People dont realise the importance of having insurance and dont understand what the policies coverage is. They just get a motor trade insurance quote and go with the cheapset, never really looking into what they are covered for. This can sometimes backfire.

I had recently been driving back from work along the local expressway, which seemed to be getting busier and busier of late. Well, actually all roads seemed to have more traffic on it lately.

Anyway, back to the story. I was driving along when the car in front of me slammed on his brakes. Of course, I was at a safe stopping distance and could stop in time but the car behind must have been too close and went straight into the back of me. Great! My new car, well it was actually second hand but it was new to me and I took pride in polishing it every week. I had also spent a lot of time getting a motor trade insurance quote that made sure I was covered for everything. So glad I did now.

When we pulled over, the person who crased into me was just a boy. he was driving a brand new car with trade plates. He said he just didn't see me stop, well I am sorry but he must not have been looking.

I asked for his details and he looked at me blankly like he didn't understand and I said to him ' you did get a motor trade insurance quote didn't you, you are supposed to have insurance'. he explained as he had just started working self employed he hadn't had time to insure himself but it was on his list of things to do! There was no way that he was going to pay to fix my car, the suspension had been damaged and I needed a tow truck to move it.

I took his name and address and explained that I was sorry but I had to involve my insurance as I couldn't afford to have it fixed and in future I suggest you get a motor trade insurance quote and take it up as you could lose your licence if you don't have insurance.

My car was a write off and it was replaced with a new car. I was so glad I had took out my insurance that covered me for every eventuality and found them very efficient when I needed them.

As for the boy that crashed into me, he lost his job as a car transporter due to the fact that he got banned from driving for having no insurance and causing a motor vehicle accident by driving without due care and attention.
